Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council announces the appointment of Akshay Pathak as the Head of its liaison office in New Delhi.

Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council is happy to announce Akshay Pathak as the new Head of Pro Helvetia New Delhi. The foundation expresses its delight at this appointment and states: «Akshay Pathak has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve, and brings on board, both a rich strategic and a profound operational understanding, having earlier worked in a multi-cultural environment, and having headed a similar organisation with an international footprint.»

About Akshay Pathak

Akshay Pathak has worked for the past decade and a half in several arts and culture spaces, in India and internationally. He has extensive experience in book publishing and performing arts. From 2003-2008, he was variously employed in research and management at the India Habitat Centre New Delhi, Biennale Bonn, Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi, Pro Helvetia New Delhi, Kampnagel Hamburg, Khoj International Artists’ Association and the National School of Drama. In 2008, he joined as the founding director of the German Book Office, New Delhi, an office of the Frankfurter Buchmesse and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, where he worked until 2012.

He has written for several local and international publications, on issues of politics and culture. His writings and translations – in English, Hindi, and German – have also been published and anthologized in several books. He has also written and directed a play titled ‘One by One’, which he developed as part of his stay at Adhishakti Theatre Arts, Pondicherry, in 2013-14. Since 2013, he has been working as a consultant on varied projects for organizations such as the Azim Premji University, Bangalore; Bookazine, USA; Gay and Lesbian Victory Institute, USA, among others.

Akshay Pathak is due to take on his duties as Head of Pro Helvetia New Delhi on 1 September 2017.

The Swiss Arts Council
Pro Helvetia supports Swiss arts and culture on behalf of the Swiss Confederation. It fosters cultural exchange between the different regions in Switzerland and disseminates Swiss arts abroad. The Liaison Office of the Swiss Arts Council in New Delhi promotes artistic and cultural exchange between Switzerland and South Asia.
