Gayatri Ganju | Research Residency 2017
Switzerland | Visual Arts
21 July - 4 September 2017 — Visual Arts
Gayatri was initially drawn to photography by her love for peoples stories. Her practice was driven by her need and ability to connect with her subjects. As her work developed, focus shifted and she found herself drawn to landscapes and the environment. She began to look at spaces as her subjects. Currently, she feels like both these subjects of her attention are coming together – and that she is interested in looking at people and their relationship to the natural world. She’s inspired by narratives that weave through mythology and the mundane, collapsing the line between fact and fiction.
Gayatri graduated from the London College of Communication with a Masters in Documentary Photography in 2013. After which she moved back to her hometown Bangalore (India), where she is currently based and works freelance.
