Swiss author Michael Fehr studied at the Swiss Institute for Literature and the Bern Arts College from 2007 – 2012, where he gained his Master degree in Contemporary Arts Practice. Fehr suffers from juvenile macular degeneration, low vision, which compels him to create his works by dictation, creating a unique oeuvre of incomparable poetical and musical qualities, thus referring to himself as being “A Narrator” – A writer who does not write.
In 2013, he published his first work of fiction ‘Kurz vor der Erlösung’ (On the Verge of Salvation), which was followed 2 years later by his second work ‘Simeliberg’ a literary thriller, which won the Kelag Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in 2014. Michael is also a storyteller and supports ‘Babelsprech’ and ‘Treibhaus’, two initiatives to promote young German speaking poetry and literature. Michael performed his poetry at the Galle Literary Festival 2017 in Sri Lanka during his residency in India.
