Sonja Feldmeier lives and works in Basel, and has done the same at different locations around the world. She works with paint, airbrushing, photography, video and audio, developing objects and complex installations.
Her many stays on a variety of continents have formed an important resource for Feldmeier’s works. As a result of her travels, she has collected a comprehensive photo, video and audio archive that she uses as source material for her installations. Her work deals with topics such as identities and attributions, and how realities are constructed through processes of communication.
Sonja Feldmeier’s pieces have been exhibited at many institutions around the world. These include: Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau; Kunstmuseum Baselland; Museum Essl, Vienna; Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, St. Gallen; Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel; Z33, Hasselt; Kunstmuseum Solothurn; The Wrong Gallery, New York; CAC, Vilnius.
