Awaken the Sleeping Giants

Who or what is a Giant? What is a state of sleep? What kind of co-existence is possible among species? How can we alter the way we see things?

With these questions a motley group comprising artists from Switzerland and India explore what inter species co-existence means for the arts in our ever-changing world. Their two-year hybrid research project will see several sessions of meeting and sharing both digitally and in person. This will be followed by physical workshops with other participants in both Switzerland and India.

Participants (in alphabetical order)

Aruna Ganesh Ram (Bangalore)

Cristina Galbiati (Novazzano / Lugano)

Maria da Silva (Geneve)

Nimi Ravindran (Bangalore)

Paramita Saha (Kolkata)

Yves Regenass (Basel)

The project is articulated around two main macro axes: a research phase – involving discussions among the core group – and a transmission phase, where the research group’s findings will be shared locally through workshops open to different practitioners.

A workshop titled “Awaken the Sleeping Giant_Hybridizations” will also be offered as part of the FIT Festival in Lugano, Switzerland from September 30-October 3, 2022. The Lugano workshop will feature the participation of 10 resident artists accompanied by the stable group of art practitioners. Together they will compare their visions and artistic practices to question hybridization in its many variations and facets.
