The József Trefeli Company was founded in 2005 in Geneva. The Company defends choreographic research and collaboration between choreographers of different cultures to promote real cultural exchange.
Cie József Trefeli will tour India with their choreographic pieces JINX 103 and Creature partnering with Gyula Cserepes for the performances.
JINX 103 originated as a meeting of two dancers – József Trefeli and Gábor Varga – connected by being part of the Hungarian diaspora, one born in Australia and the other in the USSR. They come together in dance, the art form they share, even though it was learnt on opposite sides of the globe. The piece brings them shoulder to shoulder as they delve into their common heritage

Creature showcases József Trefeli and Gábor Varga’s acute ability to analyse and reinvent traditional dance. In their choreographic process Gábor and József commandeer folklore to produce their own “fakelore” thus inventing an updated Creature.
The company will also work on a choreographic exchange entitled Meet Me in the Middle . Artists Diya Naidu, József Trefeli will be joined after a week by Gyula Cserepes as they deal with dialogue, disagreement, conflict and compromise, while the project proposes only one question: “How do we meet?”
