Gauthier Toux Trio India tour

The Gauthier Toux Trio comprising of Gauthier Toux, Maxence Sibille and Rémi Bouyssiere will be on a four-city tour this December.
A rising figure on the French, Swiss and European jazz scene, the trio lead by French pianist Gauthier Toux has developed a unique jazz sound, complex and lyrical, blended with many influences ranging from pop to hip hop. The trio has performed more than 100 concerts since it was created in October 2013 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

About Gauthier Toux and the trio
Jazz pianist Gauthier Toux was born in Chartres, France, in 1993. He started studying music at the age of 8 in the Yamaha schools of music before moving on to classical piano at the Chartres conservatory. In 2006, he met Antoine Delaunay and Jean-Jacques Ruhlman and studied with them until 2011.
Gauthier majored in jazz performance from the Lausanne’s Music College (Haute École de Musique) and graduated with a Master in jazz performance with a master in Musical Pedagogy. He studied under Emil Spanyi, Matthieu Michel, and George Robert. During his years of training, he also studied at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark under Baptiste Trotignon, Franck Avitabile, and Benoit Sourisse.
In October 2013, he created the Gauthier Toux Trio (Maxence Sibille, Kenneth Dahl Knudsen). The trio has performed in major festivals such as Jazz à Vienne, Jazz à Orléans, Cully Jazz, Jazz onze+, Copenhagen Jazz Festival. The trio has played at Sunset Sunside, the Théâtre d’Orléans, the AMR (Association pour l’encouragement de la musique improvisée), the Périscope, the Moods, the Institut Français in Agadir, and the Chorus to name but a few. Their last record was streamed and reviewed on TSF jazz, Radio France, France Musique, Jazzà FIP, Jazzwise UK, Citizen jazz.
In 2016, they won the first prize at la Défense Jazz festival competition.
Gauthier has also won awards at the Monaco Jazz Soloist Competition, the Piano Forte Jazz Competition, and the Nottingham Piano Solo Competition.
Within his short career span, Gauthier has played with many bands – groups like Maxence Sibille, the Kenneth Knudsen Orchestra, World Citizen Band, Dave Liebman, Julien Herné, Christophe Panzani… And he has played several venues, notably, the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, Jazz B in São Paulo, B-Flat in Berlin, the Maroquinerie in Pari, Cully jazz festival, Beyrouth, Marostica Jazz club.
