Indranjan Banerjee

Indranjan Banerjee from Khoj International Artists’ Association, New Delhi will be on a research trip to Switzerland from 14 November to 3 December 2022. Khoj wishes to explore the expanded fields of design and technology through speculative artistic inquiry and build contemporary art discourse at the intersections of design-technology-digital practices. The research will inquire how local practices in critical design, contemporary art and crafts in South Asia can be in conversation with global practices and situate it in process in an ever changing technological milieu.

Indranjan (he/they) is a curator, writer and cultural producer; and is a Curator and Program Manager at Khoj International Artists’ Association, New Delhi. He often plays the role of an interlocutor with artists and creative practitioners and thinks with creative practices that are at the intersection of visual, material and performance cultures. His engagements with movement, somatic practices, and the body feeds his interest in the interstices of art and technology. He investigates the relationship between image and text, body and embodiment, and speculates on the entanglements between art and design. His curatorial research primarily draws from the above intersections.

Experimental writing, writing in transmission, acts of annotation and the bodies of writing are his writerly fixations. His writing has featured in such publications as Experimenter Books, STIR, Art India and Art Dose among other independent publications.

Khoj is an autonomous not-for-profit contemporary arts organization based in New Delhi. Through its programs Khoj supports and incubates emerging, experimental and transdisciplinary creative practices and pedagogies. Since its inception in 1997, Khoj has been committed towards building global networks and solidarities, especially in the subcontinent. Khoj believes that art is of intrinsic value to society; it is a crucial form of inquiry that provides unique insights and drives change through affect.
