Karim Noureldin to complete his residency in India

Karim Noureldin studied at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste Zurich and graduated from the Hochschule für Design und Kunst Basel HGK/University of Art and Design Basel. Based in New York from 1994 – 2001, he relocated after 2001 to Rome, 2005 to London and later Cairo. He currently lives and works in Lausanne, Switzerland. Working in the field of drawings, photos, paintings, textile, ceramics as well as large site-specific installations in a variety of public and private environments, international museums and contemporary art galleries, Karim Noureldin also collaborates regularly on numerous artistic projects with a younger generation of Swiss architects.

In previous visits to India in the first two parts of his residency, Karim Noureldin explored Mumbai, Alibag, New Delhi, and Jaipur. Alongside his artistic research, Karim also exhibited his works ‘Des, Diw and Naq’ at Sculpture Park in Jaipur. His residency project has comprised of a photography series based on vernacular buildings and their use of color and spatial appearances.

Now in the final leg of his residency, Karim plans to visit Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Udaipur and eventually North-Goa to further develop and complete his artistic project. With the residency completing in December 2023, the publication documenting his residency is slated to be realized in Spring 2024.

Upcoming maintenance work

The application portal myprohelvetia will be updated from 1.1.-7.1.2024. Due to these changes, open applications must be finalized and submitted via the current online portal (myprohelvetia.ch) by the latest 23:59 on 31 December 2023. Until this date, the deadlines and criteria outlined in the current guidelines and calls for applications apply. New applications can be created and submitted in the application portal as of 8 January 2024.
