Quang Vinh Nguyen on research trip to Vietnam

Quang Vinh Nguyen is a product designer from Lausanne, Switzerland. After graduating from ECAL, he went to Hong Kong, teaching alongside working on personal projects. In 2019, he was granted the TaDA residency (Textile and Design Alliance) during which he has collaborated with the textile industry in Eastern Switzerland. He is currently working at ECAL as a researcher and working closely with the design scene in Vietnam.

Having grown up in Switzerland with Vietnamese parents allows him to have understanding and insights into both occidental and Southeast Asian ways of thinking. His work is therefore driven by Asian cultures and processed with a Swiss vision.

Besides his personal explorations, he also co-founded a multidisciplinary project named “Căng tin” which aims to highlight food and vernacular know-how of Vietnam through various mediums ranging from performances, objects to printed matters.

Through his research trip, Quang Vinh aims to collect objects and forge links with Vietnamese craftspeople and industrialists in order to create a network that will lead to the promotion of Vietnamese know-how in various forms.
