Residencies Overview

Artist - in - Residency

The last date for submission of application forms for studio residencies, for the year 2019 is 1 March 2018.

IMPORTANT

Pro Helvetia has a network of regional liaison offices in China, Egypt (for the Arab region), India (for the Indian subcontinent), Russia and South Africa (for Southern African countries). In order to enhance cultural exchange and artistic collaborations between Switzerland and these regions Pro Helvetia offers residencies in both directions.

Swiss artists and cultural practitioners (e.g. curators, event organisers, mediators) in the areas of music, literature, visual arts, design and interactive media, theatre and dance are eligible to apply. At the same time, Pro Helvetia facilitates residencies in Switzerland for artists and cultural practitioners from the above-mentioned regions. Studio residencies are also offered for Swiss visual artists (incl. performance, photography, new media and design) in New York in partnership with Swiss Institute.

The objective of the residencies is to stimulate creative and mutual exchange between artists. The artists are encouraged to develop their practice in a climate of cultural diversity.

We offer two kinds of residencies: Three months’ studio residencies and research residencies. Applications for studio residencies can be submitted once a year, from November until March. Research residencies are limited to four weeks; applications can be submitted at any time.
