Indent: The Body and the Performative

As part of its ongoing initiative to promote contemporary dance in the region, Pro Helvetia has supported Indent symposium in New Delhi. Organised by Gati Dance Forum, Indent collates practices and ideas around performance through a programme of performances, conversations and a laboratory.
Indent also marks the launch of Gati’s annual journal, The Body and The Performative, a digital publication which in its first edition examined the ways in which the body demonstrates and deploys strategies of resistance, throwing up fresh questions about the relationship between the political and the aesthetic. Rahel Leupin and Claire Vionnet will be participants at the Indent Lab, and have also contributed to the Indent journal in 2018 and 2019.
Claire Vionnet gave a speech “The Dancing Funambulist” as part of the MA Performance Practice (Dance) Annual Symposium organised by the School of Culture and Creative Expressions, Ambedkar University Delhi. Speaking at the SCCE Dance Studio, AUD, in Khirki Extension on Nov 16, 2019, she explored the question of vulnerability in dancers’ lives by exploring the notion of risk through the gesture of the fall. .
Meanwhile, Compagnie7273 presented Laurence Yadic’s solo performance “TODAY” was also presented as part of the Symposium at OddBird Theatre on 17 November 2019.
