Sélection suisse en Avignon

About Festival Off d'Avignon

Festival d’Avignon was initiated by André Benedetto in 1966. The ‘OFF’, as named by the French journalist Jacqueline Cartier, has gradually extended throughout the town of Avignon. Originally perceived as alternative, the Festival OFF d’Avignon is one of the largest festivals for independent companies in the world in terms of the wealth and diversity of its cultural offerings. The Festival OFF d’Avignon brought together 1092 companies and 1416 shows in 2016.

More

Every year nearly three thousand directors and programmers of theatres and festivals from around the world come to the Avignon Festival on the lookout for new additions for their programmes. Thanks to the «Sélection suisse» – a joint project of Corodis and of Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council, Swiss artists and performers benefit from a personalised accompaniment that generates contacts and tours within the framework of France’s cultural network.

The «Sélection suisse en Avignon (SCH)» artistic management has selected the following projects for 2018:

  • «These Are My Principles… If you don’t like them I have others» by Phil Hayes (performance)
  • «Quitter la Terre» by SNAUT/Joël Maillard (theatre)
  • «Hocus Pocus» by Cie Philippe Saire (dance for young audience)
  • «Knusa / Insert Coins» by Cie Greffe/Cindy Van Acker & Christian Lutz (dance, photography).

The above companies will perform during the Festival OFF at Avignon
between 6 and 24 July 2018.
