Thi My Lien Nguyen is a Swiss-Vietnamese photographer and artist living in Winterthur, Switzerland. Her artistic and photographic practices deal with the feeling and understanding of belonging and the sense of home, whereas she is strongly interested in diasporic and post-migrant realities and stories. While questioning our way of living together and how we can create more inclusive spaces and therefore build more trust, she aims to create more understanding and representation between communities through inclusive and participatory methods – working with traditions, rituals, folklore, food culture and its social impact. She currently works as a freelance (documentary) photographer and artist.
Thi My Lien will attend the Angkor Photo Festival in Siem Reap, exhibiting a few of her works, while also performing “Gathering” with the participants and guests of the festival. “Gatherings” is a social intervention series Thi My Lien started in 2022 by creating a space and platform to come together and develop a present group dynamic while preparing a meal to later on enjoy together, followed by an instructed ritual in the end.
