Thi My Lien Nguyen on residency in Vietnam

Swiss-Vietnamese photographer Thi My Lien Nguyen will be on residency in Vietnam from 2 November 2023 – 8 February 2024. She will spend her time between Matca residency space in Hanoi, at live.make.share. in  Bắc Ninh, and also in Saigon.

Thi My Lien Nguyen

Thi My Lien is interested in traditions, rituals, and folklore. Her work was recently featured in Matca’s photo book titled ‘Makét 02: From Here On Out.’

During the residency, My Lien plans to meet people and places connected to the Vietnamese food system, trying to get a deeper understanding of that complex framework. She will continue her research on (diasporic) Vietnamese food culture, while also practicing fire-cooking and creating Zines. Furthermore, she will continue her ongoing photographic work “Three Grains of Rice and Some Gold.” Most importantly for her, she hopes to connect with local artists to foster possible long-term exchanges and collaborations.
