Yangzom Wujohktsang is a Swiss-Tibetan architect based in Zurich. She studied at ETH Zurich and the Institute of Technology in Tokyo and has gained experience in several architecture offices. Her interests include the exploration of conceptual political and physical space at the intersection of architecture and art.
Yangzom will be on a studio residency at the Bikalpa Arts Foundation in Kathmandu, Nepal.
“The residency in Nepal offers a unique opportunity to explore the complex interplay of space identity and geopolitics,” says Yangzom, adding “I aim to dissect pivotal categories such as power dynamics, the friction between local and global culture, religious influences, the refugee experience, climate and gender – all of which are intricately condensed in today’s Nepal.”
“I will be based in Kathmandu, the main hub of the region, but I will also explore the eclectic history, landscape and climate through field trips, especially further North in the mountains,” adds Yangzom.
